Behind the numbers · research & assumptions
Based on TogetherQuest’s October 21 pricing research and October 22 optional Premium imagery report. USD, per monthly active family account. All generation allowances are fully used. These are planning estimates, not provider invoices or a prediction of sales.
Basic costs per 5 / 10 / 15-scene story: $0.15 / $0.28 / $0.45. Premium with an image every scene: $0.38 / $0.79 / $1.24. We preserve the reports’ whole-cent credit rounding: the five-scene slider sets the budget, and longer stories share it. Premium single-image stories use Basic costs within the same Premium budget.
Free Create costs $0.28 per 10-scene story; Customize costs $0.090365625 for a separate early custom branch completed through scene 10. Both add $0.181625 in monthly catalog activity. The custom branch includes its continuation, without a new cover or previews.
Fees assume 15% store commission and a 1% RevenueCat reserve. Local device narration has no paid synthesis fee. Generation estimates include safety checks, retries and planning headroom. Fixed costs: $25 Supabase + $8.25 Apple membership + the newly activated $5 Cloudflare plan = $38.25/month. Staffing, marketing, refunds, taxes and infrastructure overages are not modeled.
Break-even paid share = (1,000 × free-user cost + fixed costs) ÷ (1,000 × (blended paid contribution + free-user cost)). This is the paid share of monthly active accounts, rather than the percentage of new signups who eventually pay. Whole-account thresholds use the expected 80/20 mix; individual cohorts can vary.
